Several FAA CACI worksheets list low-dose steroids among the medications acceptable for their own condition, each with all its other criteria: the arthritis worksheet lists oral prednisone 20 mg a day (or equivalent) or less, with or without daily NSAIDs; the colitis worksheet lists oral prednisone 20 mg a day (or equivalent) or less, oral budesonide 9 mg or less, and steroid foams or enemas; and the eosinophilic esophagitis worksheet lists topical or oral steroids that do not exceed 20 mg prednisone per day.

The asthma worksheet says a short course of oral or IM steroids during an exacerbation is acceptable, and that the examiner must caution the pilot not to fly until the course of oral steroids is completed and the pilot is symptom free; among its criteria is use of oral corticosteroids for exacerbations no more than 2 times per year.

The FAA's Do Not Issue list names steroids above 20 mg prednisone or equivalent a day; that has its own entry.
