Examiner
CACI: the examiner can issue when the condition's worksheet criteria are met. Applicants for first- or second-class must provide the worksheet's information annually; applicants for third-class with each required exam
For retained kidney stones, the FAA's CACI worksheet says supportive treatments such as hydration or medications, naming thiazides, allopurinol and potassium citrate, to decrease recurrence, with no side effects, are allowed.

The examiner must note in Block 60 one of the worksheet's statements, which include CACI qualified retained kidney stones, in which case documents do not need to be submitted to the FAA, and not CACI qualified, the examiner having deferred. The worksheet says nothing about potassium citrate taken for anything else.
The FAA's MedGuide names potassium citrate (Urocit-K) as allowed, as a urinary alkalinizer, with no wait after the first dose, after later doses or after the final dose, used per label directions. The MedGuide defines allowed as acceptable for use while performing flight or safety-related duties, provided the condition is stable/aeromedically acceptable and no adverse side effects are present.
